Growth through vulnerability

Anneloes

"Since 2021, I have been managing the Binnenste Buiten operation. I am also responsible for policy work on various social issues. That combination makes my work very worthwhile.

Binnenste Buiten is a unique place where people grow through their vulnerability. There is a lot of warmth, conviviality and mutual respect. Self-care is a major part of this: it connects us all, even without words.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to lead this operation, to use my creativity here and also to show outside Het Kiel what we do at Binnenste Buiten. It totally fits who I am and what I enjoy doing.

Our strength lies in the diversity of our team. Working together with very different people can be really rewarding. The universal side also touches me deeply: each and every one of us wants to feel beautiful and loved. It always moves me to see our customers come out stronger and more proud."

Creativity, tranquillity and resilience

"I love drawing, painting and photography. I get my inspiration from books, documentaries and social themes. I find peace in nature, together with my family. I see self-care as a way of life. I take care of my inner and outer self: by taking care of my body, making myself look good, but also by guarding my boundaries, striking a balance between effort and ease.

Sports, nature, creativity and caring for my environment are all forms of self-care for me. They keep me healthy, both mentally and physically.

In terms of how I look, I like my eyes the most: They are rather big and blue and are easy to read. My character strengths? I can easily put things into perspective and always see the glass as half full, even during difficult times. I am also resilient and like to use humour, which helps, both at work and in my private life.

I often look at things from a distance. As a result, I may have been a bit too self-conscious during the photo shoot, so I was less spontaneous. It got better when I looked away from the lens.

I like that the photo series brings together everyone involved with Binnenste Buiten: customers, work experience customers and staff. Without hierarchy: everyone is equal."

“At Binnenste Buiten, self-care is a no-brainer: it connects us all.”
