"One person who has left a lasting impact on me is Miek, my social worker at Binnenste Buiten. She was the only one who came to visit me when I spent time in psychiatric care.

Miek knows I like to read the Humo magazine, so she keeps it for me. At Christmas, she even brought me party clothes! Small things, but they mean a lot. They help to see life in a more positive light.

In terms of how I look, I like my green eyes the most: In terms of my inner self: my sense of humour and open mind.

I was really honoured to be part of the photo shoot! Normally it's not my thing, but it was nice to be back at Binnenste Buiten. And what a result: I am very happy with it. The photographer can always call me again if he needs another model."

"I have a broad interest in art. I paint at the academy and enjoy writing and reading. Swimming is also important to me: in the pool, I can unwind. That's how I take care of myself, both mentally and physically.

The fact that I have now quit smoking also helps. It was a real feat, because I really smoked a lot.

To me, Binnenste Buiten is a warm, human place. It's where I attended individual counselling as a trainee, had my teeth taken care of and my hair cut. A safe harbour in difficult times."
