Eilandje offers an endless stream of possibilities

Busiest point

Eilandje is a neighbourhood in full expansion. Its main visitors are locals and tourists wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the historic centre. Around the Willemdok marina many old warehouses have been converted into trendy lofts, offices, clubs and restaurants. From a walk along the Godefriduskaai to a small terrace in the shade of the MAS, this area offers plenty of space – both literally and figuratively – to chill out. Eilandje does not have many shops yet, but there are a number of showrooms and distribution points of retail brands for the B2B market.
Furthermore, Het Eilandje is especially popular for its culinary hotspots, including a three-star restaurant and a food market in the beautiful Felix Pakhuis former warehouse. The city is fully committed to the upgrading of this neighbourhood. The Dry Docks and Quays will soon be rebuilt. New developments are planned in the Loodswezen (Pilotage building), the Montevideo neighbourhood and the Friendship Building, including the Flemish Culinary Centre and more office, catering and retail spaces. From the Belvédère, the resting point of the Eilandje, you have a beautiful view over the Scheldt.
